Brett Canning

An established Australian musician, Brett has worked with a long list of local and international artists including Missy Higgins, Glen Shorrock (Little River Band), John Paul Young (‘Love is in the Air’), Ross Wilson (Mondo Rock, Daddy Cool), Elle Greenwich (Legendary Brill Building Songwriter), Ben Lee, Pete Murray, The Waifs and The Audreys.

In 2009 his songwriting skills were nationally recognized with a nomination for Blues and Roots Song Of The Year at the APRA Music Awards for his work with Australian band ‘The Waifs’ on their song ‘Stay’. In the same year Brett was successful in securing a government grant to fund an album of his own compositions, which he co-produced. His work as a composer/musical director/performer was critically acclaimed with the stage show ‘BPM beatsperminute’, enjoying sellout seasons at the Sydney Opera House and sellout seasons around Australia.

Brett spent several years touring the globe with multiple ARIA-award winning artist Missy Higgins. Working with Missy he performed at legendary rock venues like The Roxy in LA, Hyde Park in London and The Canal Room in New York City. His work with Aussie band ‘The Audreys’ saw him back in the US in 2009 with performances in L.A. and NYC.
